Programs
Riverbend's mission is to foster an awareness, appreciation and understanding of our total environment through educational programming. By growing both the love of nature and environmental literacy, we aim to inspire action that contributes to a healthier planet for all. Riverbend's high-quality, nature-based science education taught by trained educators engages and excites learners. Our interactive programs ensure children enjoy learning -- whether they are participating in summer camp, an in-class lesson at their school, an aquaponics field trip, or earning a scout badge.
Camps
Riverbend is an ideal destination for summer camp and on school holidays. Riverbend campers experience the best of outdoor play and learning. Hiking, exploration of animal habitats, games, science experiments, crafts and more await your nature enthusiast. Riverbend’s highly qualified educators are ready to share their passion and knowledge as they guide children through a fun-filled adventure. Inside every Riverbend camper is a future nature hero!
School & Organized Group Programs
Riverbend builds environmental literacy by providing high quality nature-based STEM education for school students. We use nature as our classroom to teach 21st century learning such as empathy, collaboration and leadership and to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Students participate in hands-on, inquiry-based programs that include direct experiences with nature while achieving academic goals. Riverbend’s educators encourage a student’s curiosity, while sharing their own knowledge. Programs take place on-site at our preserve in Gladwyne and off-site at schools, schoolyards and other nature preserves.
Scouts
Through participation in projects and activities, scouts build character and skills to become thoughtful, responsible citizens. Riverbend can help your scout develop an active appreciation for nature through our many tailored programs. From badge programs to service days to overnights spent at our center, we offer plenty of options to guide your scouts along their path!
